Relay For Life Event A Huge Success
Just a quick post today to report on the Relay For Life Event that finished today at 12pm.
Firstly a huge thanks to everyone involved, all team members, sponsors, kids, hubbies etc and everyone else who helped set up our tent and pack it up later.
We had originally planned to mostly run our laps of Princes Park, but were told due to the weather that we would only be allowed to walk in the event for safety reasons. Our goal of 1000 laps still stood however and after an amazing effort by all team members who attended, we completed 1109 laps in total. The team member to walk the most laps was Cathy E who walked an amazing 90 laps followed closely by Gayle D who did 83 laps. So well done everyone!!
More importantly, our team raised $1196.85 thanks to your wonderful efforts. There were many donations from both team members and also others who for various reasons were unable to walk on the weekend. Thank you very much. Thanks also to Ingrid S who held a garage sale and donated all the money she raised and to Wendy E and Cathy E who both had donation boxes on their shop counters.
Most walkers were actually NOT looking forward to Bootcamp at the venue at 7,30am, but afterwards we all agreed that it loosened up our ‘walking’ muscles nicely and gave us another burst of energy for a few more hours. We had many onlookers, but only one game enough to join us. Thanks to all who supported that also.
Overall it was a great 18 hours. We were never short of walkers and our baton kept moving the entire time. If there had been a prize for best tent, ours certainly would have taken the cake. I’m not sure if there are photos anywhere, but if anyone has any, could you please send one to me.
