Boost Brain Power

There was a great article in a past issue of Scientific American that showed 6 ways to boost brainpower. I’m going to give you the first 2 ways because they’re  stuff you can do today.  They don’t cost you anything extra, you don’t need drugs or time to study:

1. Exercise – Yep, good old exercise not only does a body good but also your brain function.

Here’s why:

A. Improves organizing and multitasking, among other types of functions.

B. Increases delivery of oxygen, fuel and nutrients to the brain.

C. Exercise improves mood levels. (Can even lead to reductions in the need for depression medication in many cases)

D. Exercise increases growth and survival of nerve cells.

E. Exercises decreases the likelihood of getting dementia in later years.

Exercises like those we do at Bootcamp are perfect for this.  A mix of high and lower intensity, full body exercises, a mix of longer and shorter duration intervals, we’ve got the lot exactly as described in the studies.

And the good news is that even if you’ve been a life-long couch potato you can still start exercising and reap the benefits now. Just a little bit even at a later stage of life will do great things for your brain, and of course your body.

The second way to boost brain power is …

2. With your Diet – Just as your body requires good food, so does your brain.

Here’s some good brain food:

A. Nuts,

B. Fruits,

C. Vegetables,

D. Omega-3 Fats,

Research has pointed to fish oil helping in reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, depression and other mental disorders.

So exercise and diet are two simple methods you can boost brain that will also get your body healthy, fit and looking good.

This all sounds very familiar, in fact, I think I’ve said it before.

Now where are those crosswords?

Jo

PS Don’t forget Adventure Camp is just over a week away.  two days of action packed training and fun with some relaxation and yoga mixed in.  Go to the forum for more details
